Jr. First Lego League (jrFLL) is the K-3rd grade level of First Lego League, an international organization which allows kids to use Legos and Lego Robotics to learn about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). You can find out more information at their website: http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/jr.fll jrFLL consists of teams of up to six 6-9 year olds. The teams spend 6-8 weeks learning about a “challenge topic” and constructing a Lego project centered around their learnings. Every year the teams are given a “challenge” to focus on. They also prepare a story board about their team and their project, and get the chance to present it at regional jrFLL tournaments. This year the challenge topic is “Waste Wise’, which focuses on the environmental issues surrounding waste disposal and recycling.
